FAQs

What is Dig IT Tamborine Mountain?
Australia’s first mini excavator park for kids, DIG IT, is the latest adventure drawcard at Thunderbird Park. Prepare yourself for real excavator machinery and construction inspired activities where the kids are IN the driver’s seat! Fully instructed fun for kids and parents alike. You don’t need any experience, or even a driver’s license – just a willingness to give it a go!

Is Dig IT safe?
Dig IT is an incredibly fun and safe experience. We take the health and safety of our guests and staff very seriously. From the moment you arrive you'll be made to feel comfortable and at-ease by our friendly, experienced team.

You will begin with a safety lesson in our “Site Safety Induction Zone” prior to your experience, and all activities are fully supervised. During this safety briefing, your instructor will walk you through everything you need to know to operate your machinery safely. We have strict health and safety policies, including age restrictions.
Safety is paramount at Dig IT Tamborine Mountain.

Who can participate in the Dig IT experience? Are there any restrictions?
Dig IT is fun for the whole family, from our budding young diggers who love machines, to their parents who want to join the fun, almost everyone can get involved. We do however have a couple of rules in place to make sure your experience is a safe one.

Our mini diggers (aged 4 and under) can participate but will have to from the safety of their guardian’s laps. Please note that there is no charge for their guardian helper. We also have a large sand pit DIG ZONE for our mini diggers to let loose in too, with lots of digging fun. Kids aged 5 and up will be able to operate the machines by themselves (some might need a bit of extra help) but they will be IN the driver’s seat. Its not just the kids having all the fun, adults are getting into the Dig IT action too.

Participants must have a good comprehension of spoken English – you and your instructor must be able to communicate with one another throughout your time on the field.
Dig IT Tamborine Mountain is an inclusive and accessible experience. Those with disabilities can get involved in the fun too: talk to the team to find out how we can help make your day out happen.

Do I need to book in advance?
Online bookings are recommended – we are popular! We will accept walk in visitors, but please note that all our session numbers are capped, so to avoid disappointment we suggest booking in advance.

What should we wear?
On arrival all our diggers will be kitted out in a high-vis vests and hard hats. Dig IT is an outdoor experience, so we suggest casual dressing for the season, but the cabs can get pretty toasty in summer.

Closed in shoes are a MUST!

Can my friends and family watch?
Spectators are more than welcome – Dig IT Tamborine is a crowd-pleaser! Only registered diggers can operate the machines but we have a great shaded viewing platform with seating for other guests to enjoy.

What do I need to bring with me?
We recommend that everyone brings water and sunscreen etc as Dig IT is an outdoor activity.

How much are tickets?
The admission price for all our Dig IT diggers is $59 per person.

Please note that for our mini diggers (4 and under) there is no cost for their guardian helper, but if you are an adult that wants to join in with all the fun too, the cost of $59 applies.

Do I need to purchase a ticket if I am not participating in the activities?
No. Only those using the machines need to purchase a ticket.

What credit cards are accepted at the park?
Dig IT accepts Visa, MasterCard.

Can guests bring their own food and drinks into the park?
Thunderbird Park has a strict no picnicking policy. Our Dig IT guests are welcome to purchase food from the Terrace Kiosk and bring it to the Dig IT site to enjoy in the shaded viewing platform. Another option is to enjoy lunch at the Rainforest Restaurant after your session.

Dig IT is open every weekend during the school terms, and then 7 days a week over the school holidays. There will be four (4) two-hour sessions operating each day commencing at 8am and with the last session finishing at 4pm.

Our bookings page will show all the available sessions and times.

What does the admission price to Dig IT include?
On arrival all guests need to check in at the Dig IT site office. They will then move to the Site Safety Induction Zone where they will be taken through the safety components of the day and learn about the challenges and activities that they are about to do with the Dig IT machines by our experienced and trained staff.

All Dig it Diggers will then receive a high vis vest and hard hat to use during their session and the fun begins!
